Privacy Policy
Studio Asteroid (the "Operator") sets out below how information is handled in Utawave (the "App") and on this website.
1. Handling of information in the App
Information we do not collect
The App does not transmit the audio you record, your project data, or your personal information to any external party. All data you create is stored solely on your own computer. We do not perform any automatic measurement of usage (access analytics or continuous telemetry) (the optional crash reporting that occurs when a crash happens is explained below).
Communication the App performs
The App connects to the internet only for the following purposes.
| Communication | Details |
|---|---|
| Update check | When the start screen is displayed, the App retrieves a version-information file on this website to check whether a newer version is available. No personal information about the user is sent during this process. |
| Retrieving announcements and ads | The App may retrieve announcement and advertisement data (text and images) to be shown on the start screen from this website. It only retrieves this data and does not send the user's operation history or similar information. We may count the total number of ad-feed requests (broken down only by coarse country and language), but this is an aggregate figure only; no IP address or personally identifying information is stored. |
During this communication, technical information such as the IP address may be recorded in the server's access logs, but it is not used to identify individuals.
Crash reports (optional and consent-based)
Only if the App terminates unexpectedly (crashes), a confirmation dialog is shown on the next launch, and only when the user chooses "Send" is technical information transmitted to the Operator's server for the purpose of investigating the cause of the problem. Nothing is sent without your consent. Before sending, you can review the contents of the log from the dialog, and you may also choose "Don't send".
| Information sent | Information NOT sent |
|---|---|
| The app version / your OS type and device model name / technical diagnostic information at the time of the crash (a stack trace such as the program's call history and error codes) | The contents of recorded audio, projects, or files / personal information such as your name or email address / file paths, user name, or computer name |
The information sent is used solely to investigate and fix problems, and is not provided or sold to third parties. The receiving server does not store the sender's IP address and records only approximate country-level information. The stored information is deleted after the period needed for investigation has elapsed (as a rough guide, approximately 6 months).
2. Handling of information on this website
Access analytics
This website uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) to improve the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect access information, which does not include personally identifying information. For details on the information collected and how it is handled, please see Google's policy.
3. Information obtained through inquiries
Any contact details and content we obtain when you make an inquiry through a contact form or similar are used solely to respond to the inquiry and as a reference for future development, and are not provided to third parties.
4. Changes to this policy
The contents of this policy may be changed as necessary. If there are significant changes, we will announce them on this website.
